Artistic Director

Kyle Hatley was born and raised in Memphis, TN. He received his degree in Theatre from Rhodes College, where he was seen in Hamlet, Big Love, Iphigenia And Other Daughters, Our Town, Miss Julie, Kathie & The Hippopotamus, Little Shop Of Horrors, 'Tis Pity She's A Whore, and Doubt. Directing credits include Death & The Maiden, The Laramie Project, Oleanna, No Exit, Third, and All In The Timing, and his original play, Lysistrata and the Death of Cupid, a blues/folk musical adaptation of Aristophanes' Lysistrata. Other Memphis acting credits include Gross Indecency: The Three Trials Of Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare's R&J, and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at Circuit Playhouse; The Woman In Black at Germantown Community Theatre; and Picasso At The Lapin Agile at Theatre Memphis. His Memphis directing credits are Romeo & Juliet at Germantown Community Theatre; Oliver! and It's a Wonderful Life at Desoto Family Theatre; Edward Albee’s Seascape at Theatre Memphis; and And Baby Makes Seven at POTS@TheWorks for Playhouse On The Square.

His Chicago acting credits include "Shane Mungitt" in the Midwestern premiere of About Face Theatre’s production of Take Me Out at Steppenwolf; "The Visitor" in Picasso At The Lapin Agile and "Curio" in Twelfth Night at Noble Fool Theatricals; and "Zach" in the World Premiere stage adaptation of Dan Rosen's film The Last Supper for InFusion Theatre Company at The Chopin Theatre. Kyle was also in a workshop production of Execution of Justice with Gary Griffin and Emily Mann for About Face Theatre. Kyle has assistant directed and script supervised for Moisés Kaufman's adaptation of a Tennessee Williams' One Arm, a co-production of About Face Theatre, The Tectonic Theatre Project, and Steppenwolf. He was also the assistant director and script supervisor for Eric Rosen's adaptation of Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine for Chicago Children’s Theatre and workshops of Rosen’s original play, Wedding Play, for About Face Theatre.

Kyle is the Assistant Artistic Director of the Kansas City Repertory Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri. KC credits include: his original blues/folk musical adaptation of The Libation Bearers called Watering The Grave at the Kansas City Fringe Festival and The Borderland at The Kansas City Repertory Theatre. Also at the Rep, he will be the assistant director and dramaturg for Lou Bellamy’s direction of Radio Golf, Eric Rosen & Jessica Thebus’ direction of Winesburg, Ohio, Mary Zimmerman’s Arabian Nights and Gary Griffin’s A Flea In Her Ear. Other playwriting credits include: Broken Limbs, Head, We Eat Our Young, Kill The Stupid, and, most recently, Cassandra. He and Chatterbox Audio Theater are the recipients of the 2008 Silver Ogle Award for their original series The Dead Girl.
