David H. Sick was raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Greek at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio in 1988. He completed his graduate work in the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies at the University of Minnesota. Because of the broad focus of this department, he was able to study ancient Indo-Iranian languages in addition to Greek and Latin. Relations between the ancient Mediterranean and south Asia continues to be a focus of his research. He has been a member of the Department of Greek and Roman Studies at Rhodes College since 1997. For the past two years he has also served as the director of the core program in the humanities at Rhodes, The Search for Values in the Light of Western History and Religion.
