Charles Ingram

Charles acted through college, playing roles such as Richard in Richard III and J. B. in J. B. He was a U.S. Naval aviator from 1967 to 1972. Back on stage, he played George in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf at both the University of Memphis and Theatre Memphis. He had featured roles in Forty Shades of Blue, The Delta, Slow Down, You’re Dating Too Fast, and other motion pictures. He has taught history, philosophy, political science, and communications at Northwest Mississippi Community College and The University of Mississippi for 35 years. He taught playwriting and screenwriting at Rhodes College in Memphis. His own plays such as Edgar’s Dead Cat, Romantic Fever, and The Kindness of Strangers, among others, have been produced on stages throughout the country and on National Public Radio. He has published one non-fiction book, Dishes To Die For: The Last Cookbook You Will Ever Need. He has published numerous fiction and non-fiction print magazine stories and articles (including First Place in Short Fiction, 1990, Druid Press International Writing Competition). He was theatre critique for The Germantown News (Tennessee) from 1986 through 1989 and lead columnist for The Cynic: Online Humor Magazine (2005 – 2008). He has been married to his wife, Karin, for most of his adult life, and they have four grown daughters and three grand kids (who think they’re grown).
